Benefits Specialist

We are seeking a knowledgeable individual to join our HR team as a Benefits Specialist. Working closely with the Fiscal and Human Resources teams, the Benefits Specialist will assist employees to ensure effective use of benefits and leaves of absence.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Respond to employee benefit inquiries
  • Conduct benefit orientation meetings and assist with benefit enrollment
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment process
  • Administer various leaves of absence
  • Coordinate the agency’s Worker’s Compensation program
  • Assist with maintenance and training of agency’s payroll and benefits system

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience, including leave administration, benefit enrollment, and worker’s compensation
  • Familiarity with KRONOS, a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through required
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with employees, management, and community partners
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to provide information accurately and professionally in various styles including verbal, written, and presentation
  • Must be capable of working with confidential information in a professional manner and maintain employee privacy
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and set priorities
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong writing, communication and PC skills
  • Experience with applicant tracking system
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment
