February, 2015 Person Centered Excellence Report, February 2015 February was a very exciting month in regard to our continuing journey to person-centered excellence: HCBS Settings Standard: A decision was made to have each residence discuss this standard at their monthly meetings and define what improvements they will make to ensure compliance with the standard. Residential Advisory Committee: The group held its first meeting in February and established operational rules and a list of future discussion topics was developed. The group will meet monthly for the next few months. Exercise of Rights: In our effort to commit the agency to help people maximize opportunities for people to fully exercise their rights and responsibilities, we met with representatives of both the Mental Hygiene Legal Services and Disability Rights New York to discuss this issue. We also held a third meeting with Service Coordinators and Community Support Supervisors to discuss the issue. Hiring of Staff: A draft standard was developed which defines a process for giving people supported with 24 hr. residential supports input in the hiring process of staff. Personal Outcome Interview Data: Our first report analyzing data from our first six months of personal outcome interviews was released.
