Reach Out Club Events
Reach Out Club is a group of talented, kind and compassionate people who, together, want to reach out and make a difference in their local, regional, national and even global community. This group provides the opportunity for people who receive supports from Catholic Charities to make an impact in their world, join a team of artistic and motivated people, and be part of something wonderful.
The people in this group have experienced the joy that comes from giving back to others and they are motivated to continue to give and do good toward others. The idea for the Reach Out Club came from our CCDS Clinical Grand Rounds team, which comprises of clinicians from the various departments within our agency, and from that idea an inspiring Reach Out Club has grown!
At the first kick-off celebration, this group learned first-hand from Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany relief volunteers about hurricane disaster recovery efforts in Houston, Texas. They created and mailed cards to the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese Galveston-Houston filled with messages of appreciation. When describing the working that this group has been doing, Carey, a woman who has been part of this group since its beginning, states, “I was able to reach out for people, to let them feel good, to know that people care.” Carey wants people to know, “That there are people really care about them,” and “that think about them, ya’ know, and truly care.”
During another meeting, the Reach Out Club created artful Thanksgiving cards for the residents of Teresian House Nursing Home. With every gathering, this group has grown and grown and their next event is carolling at the Teresian House and wishing everyone Happy Holidays!
